NOW OVER 110 CHILDREN HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME & NEW FAMILY at PARIVAAR!

Friends

Greetings from Parivaar.

We be your acceptance and perusal of this Newsletter, embodying a short statement of our humble efforts towards our mission of changing destinies of homeless/family-less children.

In our last Newsletter in January, we informed all of you about the purchase of the Bal-Ashram. We had purchased a two-acre land, 10 Km from our first Centre at BONOGRAM, in a village called BARKALIKAPUR (in District South 24 Paraganas) about 25 Km from Kolkata city centre. We have named this establishment as Parivaar Ashram

Since January ’05, we have been undertaking the construction and development work at the Parivaar Ashram at full speed. Many volunteers, who are experts in the construction field, helped us undertake it so smoothly. The site was in no way an easy location for construction. Being in the interiors of Barkalikapur village, the construction material has to be taken through a kuchha road for about 400 m through handcarts as the approach road as of now is unmotorable. Even with these constraints the work has progressed very well.

We are especially grateful to Shri B.C. Mitra, a 79-year-old stalwart in the Kolkata construction industry who spent all his weekends in the last 5 months at Parivaar Ashram to supervise the construction activity. Thanks also to Shri Biswananth Roychoudhary (Civil Works), Shri Himadri Guha (Structural Engineering) and Shri M.K. Satish (Architecture, Design Planning) for devoting themselves selflessly to the work of developing the Parivaar Ashram

In the last 4 months, we have already constructed three Bal-Sadans. Each Bal Sadan has a House Mother (Ma) for girls and small boys and a House Brother (Dada) for bigger boys. They take care of the inmates of that Bal Sadan. Two more Bal-Sadans are under construction.

Also nearing completion is the ‘Annapurna Bhavan’ (a two-storeyed Central Kitchen and Dining hall) that will provide food and comfortable seating arrangements for around 300 persons at a time.

Construction is also rapidly progressing for our Library & Computer Hall. We are also developing our sports facilities, which will have a football field, Volleyball and a Badminton court. At both our Centres we have recruited accomplished and trained Sports instructors who were former state level players.

All this could not have been possible without the generous support from our well-wishers who placed total trust in the long-term vision and commitment of Parivaar.

Below is the architecture plan of a Bal-Sadan.
